“I learned a lot of things and I’ve decided to make some changes in the structure of the association thanks to your support” stated the president of “Bouthaina Association of Women at Risk”.

It is the first association in Tunisia, led by female sex workers to work with and for sex workers to improve their access to sexual and reproductive health services and to the prevention and protection from gender-based violence. In order to support this initiative, UNFPA Tunisia conducted a capacity building session to the association’s members to assist them in developing and structuring their association through adapted principles and management tools. During the training, the vision, mission and objectives of the association were discussed and the members were introduced to community work, bylaws, legal framework, good governance, strategic planning, project development and management as well as evaluation of opportunities and risks.

The Tunisian Association of Reproductive Health (TARH) and UNFPA Tunisia are advocating to promote SRH rights (SRHR) of migrants in Tunisia in order to improve their access to SRH services. In this context, documentary directed by UNFPA Tunisia country office and the TARH was screened on 20th September 2018 at the French Institute of Tunisia introducing a debate on SRHR of migrants in Tunisia. More than 70 migrants of different nationalities took part in this debate and exchanged about various topics including the quality of SRH services, attitude of health workers, language barriers and communication problems but also about gender-based violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, discrimination and racism.
